It says that the BITS service won't start because a dependency services or group failed to start. When I tried to start those, it'd run, but then it stop right away:

I had a similar issues recently, though not quite the same as yours.

Here's what I did to fix the problem(s).

Selected Troubleshooter from the control panel, selected View All from the menu top left and then selected the Windows Update troubleshooter from the bottom of the list.

Run it as Administrator and it *should* fix the problem. Reboot after it completes.

Yeah, about that:

First, I got the CCEnhancer rules taken out of CCleaner, and that should allow some healing to take place. Then after searching around a bit, I had to do a bit of registry hacking to get the COM+ Event System to run.

Now to Windows Update. It keeps asking me to install the Bing Bar, and Bing Desktop as optional updates, but I don't want those. The updates did hang up when it got to "Create a Restore Point", because obviously Volume Shadow Copy still doesn't work, but after leaving it alone for a moment it started installing them anyway.

There's nothing odd there - which us unexpected, given your description of the symptoms.

If VSS isn't working, that can be for a number of reasons - best diagnosed by looking at the Event Logs..

Pleaseopen Event Viewer

In theleft pane, navigate to the Windows Logs

right-clickon Applications and select 'Save all events as...' save as Apps.evtx

repeatfor the System logs - save as Sys.evtx

Compressboth files, and attach to your reply.
