Just wanted to talk about my first backup restore

This morning I was on line and went to my gmail and was prepared to answer an email that I received. Well, the computer froze up so I rebooted and after that the computer never loaded into Windows 7.

After that the computer could never fully boot into Windows and after a few tries it booted to a black screen. Safe mode was not accessible either.

SO--it seemed to me that I had two choices - do a restore from EaseUS todo Backup V7 or do a repair install. I opted for a restore and I am so happy that it worked perfectly. Thanks EaseUS.

I have always been afraid to try a restore but I knew that there would come the time to need to do it. This was the time to do it. No problem at all. Can you imagine my heart in my mouth during the whole process?

Just wanted to pass this on.

My experience is that most users don't even have a backup, so imagine how they must feel in that same situation

Without backup I would have to redo everything over again. With XP it seemed much easier but there is so much more to do when you start from scratch with Windows 7.

Anyway, I am a happy camper.

I do two backups - EaseUS and also the backup in Windows 7. Never had to restore before as I mentioned.

That is for sure AND I send the backups to two separate external drives.

I've restored my boot drive several times and was successful every time. Still, my heart is in my throat every time I do a restore until the restore is finished.

On my desktop computer, I make a weekly image, using Macrium Reflect Free (here is a good tutorial on how to use Macrium Reflect), once a week every week and before making any changes to my OS or programs. I save the images to a data drive in the same computer (not a good idea if it is the only place) but I backup that drive to two local HDDs everyday using FreeFileSync. I also have two more backup HDDs for the same drive in my safe deposit box at my credit union and swap them out with the two at home no less than once a month. To cover data added after swapping out the HDDs in my safe deposit box, I also use Carbonite to backup most of my data daily.
