if you are running Kaspersky does Malwarebytes at anything significant?

It's always good to have more than one program to check for things the other programs might miss. No one program does it all.
Malwarebytes Anti Malware Professional is my choice to run active with my anti virus.

that's a combination that I've been running for years. I have just been reevaluating a lot of stuff I'm automatically loading and running out of habit.

I run Malwarebytes pro and Vipre which do not conflict. The pro version of Malwarebytes has saved me several times when I ventured into unknown URL's

I have Kaspersky and I read somewhere online that Malwarebytes conflicts with Kaspersky.
I was thinking about adding Malwarebytes till I read that, but.....??

I never had a conflict problem with MBAM Pro and MSE or Avast as the AV.
Some people do have AV conflicts, so exclusions can be setup to fix the problem.
Here is an MBAM thread about Kaspersky conflicts:

You can use the trial option of MBAM to see if you have issues and setting exclusions fixes any conflicts.
Using the trial you get to use the MBAM Pro features for 2 weeks for free.
That way you can test MBAM Pro to make sure it works for you before purchasing it.

I ALWAYS create a System Backup Image before installing programs, major updates, system changes, etc. - especially security changes and patch Tuesday updates.
I can restore the image from before making the change if things don't work out.
That way I don't have to depend on any uninstall utility to insure there are no leftover registry keys, files, settings, tasks, etc.

If you're considering MBAM Pro I suggest deciding sooner rather than later while the lifetime license is available.
Version 2 will be a subscription (annual fee) license.

Well I did post back Dallas but my link wasn't working properly.

Now I have been running Kaspersky for four years on five machines and I found that KISS does not really like MBAM real time but ok with t as on call scanner.

Well I know it caused problems before but I must admit it was along time ago an I still have the full version disk so I shall try it on the tester and see

If you mean the full version disk for MBAM, you shouldn't need to install from that "old disk".
If you have MBAM installed you can start the trial or activate your license with the version you have installed now.
Either way, you would want to update to the latest definitions.
If your installed program version not the latest, you need to update the program to version 1.75.0.1300
You should be able to update the program without using an old disk...

Yep I know Dave I just have the code with it so will try it. Mind you MBAM finds very little that Kaspersky doesn't so am not that worried.

If I put MBAM Free on a different drive, D:\ drive for example, (on call like you said) and specify for it to scan the C drive only, will MBAM do that?
That might be a dumb question but I'd still like to know. I'm not an expert so I still have to ask dumb questions once in a while.

At least that way I could totally separate it from Kaspersky, then "Pause" KIS while scanning with MBAM. That should eliminate any chance of conflict, right?

I have a drive available that I could use that way because KIS doesn't scan that drive. So......?

Matw wha I am going to do is as soon as I find that code for the full / real time version of MBAM I will activate it and let you know. It could well be that the bug/s have been fixed.


Pausing KISS is not something I like to do to be honest but it is a possibility but let me try the other option first.

You should not have to be concerned with conflicts with MBAM Free.
Just don't run a MBAM scan at the same time as your AV is running a scan.
MBAM free is an On-Demand scanner, no real-time protection.

Conflicts are only possibly an issue when MBAM Pro (real-time) is used with a real-time AV program such as Kaspersky.

The drive (C or D) you install MBAM on should not make any difference...
I would install MBAM on my C (OS + Programs) drive...
It makes backup/restore much simpler for me...I install all programs to the "C OS drive/partition".
Even if you install MBAM on D, the installation will update some things on C such as the Registry.

Yes David I put the MBAM Pro on the tester and so far no conflicts and that machine has the 2014 on it.

I know as I said earlier I did have problems a fair while ago with Kaspersky and the Pro MBAM running real time and that is when I just starting only the free version.
