Hi:

I think you may be referring to the Kaspersky Vulnerability Scan?

If so, it would help to know:

  • Which product: KAV, KIS, or KTS?
  • Which version: 2016 or 2017? (and which specific build -- mouse over the K system tray icon to find out)
Having said that, not all of these are huge security issues (such as the saving of cookies from some websites).

If I am not mistaken, when the scan completes, there are links to correct the various issues it identifies?
In other words, Kaspersky can help you to "fix" those issue?
Otherwise, you might need to research each of those items individually to find out how to mitigate those vulnerabilities. A simple Google search for each one should turn up numerous "hits" for ways to deal with them.

I suggest that you might want to at least set a Windows Restore Point and/or to create a backup system image on an external USB hard drive before you start fiddling around with all of those settings, just in case.

HTH for starters,
MM

Hi HisRascal.

Looking at that report
Those appear to be INFORMATION alerts, not malware.

The only 1 to be slightly concerned about is
Homepage reset, even this only means (you more than likely changed it) its not MSN..... any more
I allways use another and if i ran KIS i'd get the same.

as for
Windows Explorer: display of known file type extension is disabled
unless you use/need them for a specific program thats fine, can easily be changed.

You can safely ignore the rest:D

Hi:

I don't think the OP ever suggested that the items were malware?

And I agree, as I mentioned, that these are not huge issues.

I guess some might suggest that the AutoRun features be disabled as a potential vulnerability?

And, without knowing WHICH websites had been added to the list of "trusted websites", we really do not have enough information on that one to say for sure if it ought to be ignored.
Ditto for the popup blocker exceptions.

These are *probably* OK to ignore, but we lack sufficient granular data to know for certain.

Just my two cents and worth less,

MM

To MM and Roy, thanks for the input. It was Kaspersky Security Scan 16.0.0.1344, 2017. It's a free version and as I recall there were no links to help correct/change anything. I will take your suggestion and search for resolutions.

About changing the browser, it happens routinely once a week and after the change Windows has updates available and I thought maybe it was Microsoft changing the browser. A little annoying but I wasn't doing the changing.

Thank you again for the suggestions!
