Solved KB2840149 released - "fix" for KB2823324?

This seems to be the patch for the patch KB2823324?

I just booted up my main production box & was informed that this new, out-of-band update KB2840149 is available.
This is one of my 3 Win7 rigs, and it still has KB2823324 installed (as I only UNinstalled KB2823324 from one of the 3 (laptop), even though I never had any issues with that particular update on any of my rigs).

According to MS, this seems to relate to the same security hole patched by the previously disastrous KB2823324?

I never had a problem on any of my 3 rigs with KB2823324, & only uninstalled it on one of them.
So....

QUESTIONS:

• Does anyone have experience yet (good or bad) with this new KB2840149?
• Is it only being offered to systems that still have KB2823324 installed (I haven't yet booted the laptop, from which I uninstalled KB2823324, even though it never caused a problem, in order to check on this)
• There is no instruction or prompt to do so, but should one uninstall KB2823324 first?
• Or is it safe to install, regardless of whether KB2823324 is already/still installed?

I am waiting to see if others have problems with this, it is rated important. Not critical

Security update 2840149 replaces security update 2823324. We recommend that customers uninstall security update 2823324 and then install security update 2840149. I had missed that little item.:shock:

I presume that the vast majority of home users probably never uninstalled 2823324, since -- if they had no problems with booting their computer -- they never knew about the problem. And they likewise don't know to uninstall it now before installing 2840149.

Having said that, I will follow your "best practices" advice (and that of M$) to uninstall 2823324 before installing 2840149 on those 2 rigs.

I just installed the new patch on this machine (2 hrs ago) without uninstalling the old one - no problems yet

I remove the old KB days ago and yesterday installed new KB and have had no problems so far.

So far, so good.

Laptop (previously uninstalled 2823324): no problems.
Older desktop (uninstalled 2823324 this morning & rebooted, of course, first): no problems.

Will tackle 3rd rig tonight.

I uninstalled the old one last week eventhough i'd had no problems and installed the new one lastnight. No problems yet

3 of 3 rigs AOK here.

(1 had 2823324 removed shortly after Patch Tuesday; I uninstalled it on the other 2 shortly before installing 2840149).

I had no problems with KB2823324 but installed KB2840149 over it (not having read the advice to uninstall the former first). Since then, my WiFi has been cutting out frequently, such as when the computer goes to screensaver or comes out of standby. I uninstalled KB2840149 today and am watching to see if the WiFi problem is resolved. Would like to know if anyone else has had similar odd WiFi behavior.

(This PC never had a Kaspersky product but had Norton IS preinstalled, removed w/ removal tool but lots of Norton crap left behind.)

Update: I uninstalled KB2840149, then uninstalled KB2823324. The wireless was then acting normal for 2 days but the problem reappeared, so it was most likely a coincidence that it began the day I installed KB2840149
