I was wondering the same thing. I remember the fiasco from the Russian ruble one.

Well, it is not really necessary in my opinion if you do not need to use the Lithuanian language. But, I guess you can get this update for future proofing.

I'm pretty sure it's just doing this for you if you don't want to mess with doing it manually,

How to manually change the currency symbol for Lithuania

Click Start, type Change the date, time, or number format in the Start Search box, and then click Change the date, time, or number format in the programs list.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
In the Region and Language dialog box, click Additional settings on the Formats tab.
Click the Currency tab, and then change Currency symbol from Lt to €.

Note If you have applied the hotfix that is described in the "Resolution" section, and you want to change the currency symbol to the earlier version, click the Currency tab, select € in the Currency symbol list, and then type Lt.
Click OK two times to apply the change.
After you make this change, the new currency symbol is displayed as your system currency in all Windows and Office products.

Update changes the currency symbol of Lithuania from the Lithuanian litas (Lt) to the euro (

They were more than just dubious. Many machines were messed up by the initial update and M$ had to pull the update, fix it, then reissue it.

Given that it's not critical, I wonder why they felt it necessary to release this update out of schedule rather than waiting a couple of weeks for the usual monthly updates?

I have no plans on installing it immediately, if at all. I'll wait and see what is said about it here and elsewhere.

Second desktop different spec but similar level.
Well, like I said in post 4, this was most likely made specifically for Lithuania. Unless you need to use the language, it is not really necessary.
