KB3024777 error code 3

KB3024777 that is supposed to remove the previous patch keeps failing with an Error Code of 3.

According to this link for System Error Codes, an error code of 3 means

ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND
3 (0x3)
The system cannot find the path specified.

If that is indeed true, does that means the previous patch is gone? I can't find it under installed updates.

Shouldn't the patch to remove the previous patch look to see if the patch is already uninstalled or not present?

Are you using the standalone patch or Windows Update?.
If the former it may not check.
If the latter, do a Check for updates. If it still shows as needed, follow the Windows Update Posting Instruction and post your logs to a reply here
