Hi,
KB980218 popped up yesterday along with some other updates. All the other updates were installed, but KB980218 won't, no matter how many times I try.

It is failing with the error code 800736B3.

I tried scanning the hard disks, and sfc /scannow, did not help.

Did anyone else have similar problem?

Are you using any non-English language packs? It's likely that manifests indicate you are but the installed (updateable) packages are not.

Hi,
I am not sure how to find out. But I am using default installation of Windows 7 64bit, English version. I have also installed Google IME Download Google Transliteration Input Method (IME)

However I use Windows in English primarily (99% of the time), and the interface etc are all English.

I don't know if I could provide the information you were looking for... please let me know if I should check anything in particular somewhere in my setup.

Thanks

Hello,
sfc /scannow shows that "IASSDO.DLL.MUI" is corrupted. Could anyone please point out how I can get it from the installation disk, or if possible share that file with me? I have Windows 7 64bit Ultimate.

I realized there are multiple copies of iassdo.dll.mui. The one that seems to be corrupted in my system is:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\iassdo.dll.mui

I found the source of the file in the DVD - it is there in an archive called SOURCES\INSTALL.WIM. I extracted the file from there, and it matched with the fill I already have! I do not know why this confusion is happening, but I figure it's a common problem since this file returns many results in Google.

Could anyone please share the file if possible? It's about 6kb in size: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\iassdo.dll.mui

Not sure why no one could find the time to upload a small file for someone needing help. Quite frankly I am appalled at the demonstrated effectiveness of the forum.

In any case, I got the problem solved with help from a friend's Windows.
