Can anyone please check on your system if it has a KB982018 patch installed?
Important - and this is not an Advanced Format disk(4k physical sector)

And one more thing. Copying 1 large file at a speed 20 Mb/s that is too slow on SATA II 7200RPM hdd?

I don't have KB982018 patch installed. My WU is set to never check and now I only install Security ONLY updates.

MS releases SP2 for Windows 7

Laptops has slower disks than Desktops as they spin at 5400RPM. Also depends where the source is. If you copy from a fast flash USB disk it will be around 20 Mb/s.

This MS website says it's dated 25 April 2011, so it certainly isn't a current update. You can download it as well if you wish.

what's your drive? Is it AF disk?

Mine is an SSD & it's a 1024 byte sector size, so it should be an AF disc.

Not all updates are not necessarily shown in Installed Updates.

Are you sure? 1024? check the value of the physical sector:
fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo c:

I checked & the bytes per cluster in 4096. Bytes per sector 512.
Bytes per file record segment 1024.

Really? Thank you, but you probably do not intend to forbid others to answer too.
Your answer is not much because you wrote: I only install Security ONLY updates so I do not know if this patch shows you up in WU and whether you have AF disk and that's the point.
I need answers from several people to see if there is any rule for this patch.

And what about copying is about copying between partitions on the same disk to be exact.

Copy between partitions is very slow as the disk arm must read on one partition and then, the same arm, must move to write on the other partition.
