keep getting error "default gateway is not available"

I keep running into this issue with windows 7 and its quite irksome. several times a day, my internet would cut out and id get an error the default gateway is not available, then windows fixes it. my laptop is wireless also, with win7, but i never get that problem.

I tried updating the driver to my network card, but when i did that, my Xbox 360 would no longer connect to my PC for streaming. so i rolled back.

I have an older HP Pavilion desktop and a RealTek RTL8139 wireless network card. the card worked just fine on XP.

My IP and DNS are set to obtain automatically.
