Keeping things running well after long time, tune up, maintenance

Hi guys

Been running my Windows 7 system without many issues for some time now.
Based on advice I don't use any maintance suites and just let 7 manage itself.
I do use cCleaner only as a cleaner and run Kaspersky IS and Malware Bytes (free)

I'd like to know what I should do to keep things working well, is there any trusted tune up programs out there now?

What advice would you have for me.

If you use any tune up program you'd better have a system image backup handy. Really you are better off using tools built into windows and applying tweaks manually one at a time.

Well all I would say is that if you use a tune up utility you need a backup that you can restore when things screw up.

Regarding any tune up utility that I've ever used I never choose to auto clean or auto fix anything. I'd only use those that let you preview results/ changes and de-select problem items before going ahead.

these two steps will go a long way toward making an old installation run like new

start > run > msconfig > startup > then uncheck what you don't need
start > run > msconfig > services > hide microsoft services > then uncheck what you don't need
