keeps repairing

Hi, I have an Acer Travelmate and run IE 11, windows 7 64 bit. For the last couple of weeks every time I log on there is a message telling me I have " File system NTFS and one of the discs needs to be checked for consistency". I have run computer repair and checked all up-dates are installed.
As this occurs every time I log on there must be something fundamentally wrong but I have no idea what. I would really appreciate advice please on how to fix this problem. thanks very much.

Did you you a disk check ?

Usually it does it on it`s own, did you let it run, it usually only does it once, and then it should be good.

Hi AddRam, No I don't know how to do a check. I let the laptop go through all of its checks for consistency until it had finished. I assumed the problems were sorted until I went to log on the next time and it occurred all over again. thanks jack

Schedule a disk check
On a Command prompt type chkdsk c: /f
It will ask if you want to schedule for next boot. Yes

Hi Guys, Thank you so much for your help. To show my lack of knowledge I didn't even know what a command prompt was. Anyway entered that in the search box and up comes the command into which I typed "chkdsk C:/f". I was then told I didnt have authority so I went back in as "Administrator", typed in the search again and nothing happens. Clearly I am doing something wrong but am b.......d if I know what. Sorry guys but I just don't know what I am doing.
I have simply turned the power off and then back hitting f8 and up comes a menu from which I choose "repair computer". This does its stuff but next time I log in I again have disc checking and it also says "chkdsk is verifying files".
Apologies for my ignorance and appreciate your patience.

Open Explorer, right click on the C: drive - Properties - Tools tab - error checking - check now - start -Schedule disk check

Hi Guys, Again thank you so much but I think I am a lost cause. I scheduled a disk check but upon logging in I again encountered the "one of your discs needs to be checked for consistency".
I have downloaded the disk check to my desktop but cant now locate it despite downloading it 5 times.
I think I know when I am beaten and will just have to put up with the "isc check" every time I log in. I really am grateful to you all for your kind assistance.

That is because you don't let it do the disk check.
When it says "one of your discs needs to be checked for consistency" don't do anything and let it do the disk check. It will count down 10 seconds and begin the check. At the end it will give you the report for a short period.
If (after the complete disk check) it still gives you the message "one of your discs needs to be checked for consistency", then there is something to worrier.

Hi, I always let it do a full check and never stop it. I recently downloaded some up-dates and I think the problem started around then. I have tried to go back to a date before then to do a system restore but the up-dates is the furthest it will let me go; no doubt earlier restore points have been deleted.
