Kernal-Power error 41 while playing games

Hello all,

I've been getting kernal-power error 41 with BugCheckCode 0 for quite some time now. I usually get it when I i play WoW, talking in skype and listening to music on spotify. This time i also had steam up and running.
I will attach the log collecter file and hopefully someone can help me identify the problem that is causing the kernal power errors.

Hello, Jocarrian I'll see if I can help you. You had 2 dump files in the logs you uploaded. one on 9-29 and the other on 8-19.
The dump of 9-29 blamed this.

The one in August is what concerns me more

The reason it concerns me more is if it is the memory causing this, none of the dump files will be correct, so it is better to take care of that first. So what I would like you to do is

Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask​

Also, if you can, when you get ready to turn it off, if you can take a picture of the screen and upload it, it may help. Just so long as I can read what is written on the screen is fine. I don't care much about the quality. This will tell you how to upload screenshots, much like you did the log files.

If you have had more blue screens than that, you may check and make sure your computer is set tto create Small Memory Dumps. This is how:

Let us know how that does. It has to run for 8 full passes, more is better, or until you get an error. If you get an error you can stop the test by taping the escape key. Let us know how that goes.

Hello essenbe, thanks for the reply. I will do the memtest asap when I get home from work.

About the graphics driver. I got help with another BSOD problem that I had before after I reinstalled my computer. He told me to totally remove my graphic driver (had the latest one) and install the 13.9 catalyst control center instead. Do you think I should update the driver again?

But there was no problem from yesterday? The kernal-power error 41 with the BugCheckCode 0 makes my computer instantly freeze and make a very disturbing buzzing sound in the headphones. It doesn't even create a BSOD. Might it be the memory failing or maybe is there something wrong with the kernal debugger?

I've been having thoose random freezes since I changed all the parts in my computer. Changed all except the harddrive.

Also, might there be a problem with my electricity socket? I have this extension cord that has a SAFE switch and turns of when the voltage reaches above 3500W. Could that extension cord maybe not transfer enough amount of power to the computer?

Are you sure about the 3500W? Your sysyem will never reach 20% of that. If you were meaning 350W, yes, take it off of that.

You had a dump file that listed memory corruption. That is why I gave instructions to run memtest86+. Pleas run it by the instructions. That can also cause your graphics card drivers to crash. That should be the first thing you test.

I just switeched to normal extensions. The thing is that, when I changed to SAFE switch extension cord, I got the BSODs, allthough, it might have been something else and the extension cord could've just been a coincident. It is 230W for every socket and if it spikes up to 3500W it shuts down automaticly, it's like a extension cord made for safe usage if there is a lightning storm outside.

This is the extension cord, don't think it will help because it's in swedish but atleast you get a picture of what im talking about

But the thing with my problem, it doesn't even generate a BSOD really. It just freezes and I have to reset the computer with the physical RESET button on my chassi. In my logs I just get kernal power and all the information about it just a bunch of 0. Like BugCheckCode 0

The Kernel Power you are seeing means nothing other than the computer shut down unexpectedly. It give no cause or reason. I think your problem may be that extension cord. Please completely fill out your system specs and include Manufacturer and model number and list your PSU and CPU cooler. I couldn't read it, but I know what it is. But, if you are correct and it will only allow 230W for each socket, that is not enough for tour computer. I seriously hope you have a larger power supply than that. Plug it directly into the wall socket and see if it does better.

I do have a larger PSU than that yes, I have the corsair CX750M But you would guess that my kernal power has something to do with the electricity not being enough?

The kernel power event you are getting simply means that the computer restarted unexpectedly. That's all it means.

However, if what you told me is true, the power strip will only allow 275W of power to pass through and you have a 750Watt power supply, the power supply was limited to being able to supply only 275 Watts of power, which is not enough to run your components. At full draw, your Graphics card can use around 350 W of power. So, the power strip was not capable of powering your computer. At this point, that is what I think. So, plug your computer into the wall and see if that is correct. It may be something else, but that is what I think right now. So, lets give it a try and see. If I am wrong, we'll have to look somewhere else for the cause.

First, make sure your computer is configured to create Small Memory dumps.

If it isn't the power, we may be able to make the computer BSOD by creating stress on the drivers and causing the driver causing your problem to cause a BSOD and catching it with a Dump file. But first I want to test the power theory and check some more hardware.

I have configured my comp to create small dumps instead of kernal. So I'm ready to do what you tell me to if it comes do that.
