I just upgraded to win 7 when I bought my graphics card(ATI HD 5500)
It started hanging randomly from the very first day.
At times I would have 5-6 hours of hang-less usage, sometimes it would hang up in 5 minutes. I overclock my system, but that is completely irrevelant because it ran fine on Vista. My Event Viewer simply says : Kernel Power Failure.
Has anyone got any idea? :(

Overclocking is not irrelevant simply because it worked under a different OS. I'm sure someone with more overclocking experience will chime in with some suggestions, but I recommend looking at downclocking until it becomes stable and then going from there.

I just did, and I partitioned my hard drive, and re-installed win 7. It just hanged again, but this time, my iTunes music player didnt stop working. I dont think its got anything to do with the hardware.

All right, checked the event viewer, it says something about an error labeled " DNS client event" event ID 1014.
Every one of them happened when my screen hanged. I guess this is the culprit. Anyone have any idea how to solve this ?

There are several possible causes. We could give you more help if we had the actual DMP file created. If it isnt a BSOD you can still create a DMP file.

Kernel power failure can be caused by an old BIOS so I would update that.
It can also be caused by a damaged system file so I would run a system file check by typing cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow.

I would stop overclocking for anything else you do may or may not work until you do
