Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error AND Bugcode_USB_Driver BSODs

Hi all, any help much appreciated - I have researched these problems as far as my knowledge allows, but beyond me now!
Have had both these BSODs intermittently since purchasing laptop 8 months ago. As my use varies from all day for a few days to not at all for weeks it's hard to gauge the frequency. Not linked to any specific program or type/length of use as far as I can tell. As far as my research goes this seems likely to be a hardware conflict, failing hard drive or possibly both?

Your dumps are related to USB device drivers. What do you plug into your USB ports?

Also deal with these;

AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on Windows 7. Uninstall it. Download the correct AVG Remover for your system.
Uninstall AVG through the Control Panel. Re-boot to Safe Mode and run the Removal tool. Re-boot to normal mode and replace AVG with BSOD friendly Microsoft Security Essentials.

Hi Julian, thanks for the quick response...

The only USB devices I regularly use are a Buffalo Ministation 500GB hard drive and an ipod 80gb classic. However, I have used many different external drives over the life of the laptop to transfer work and also connected to many different models of ipod. Have also used a microsoft headset at one time. That's everything that's been connected to my knowledge.

Just to clarify - the dumps from kernel_data_inpage_error BSOD's also relate to usb device drivers?

I will update drivers you mentioned and remove AVG when I finish work in a few hours,

All the dumps I looked at, covering 7 months, gave FE: Bugcode_USB_Driver. As the error
But for info:
STOP 0x0000007A: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
Usual causes: Memory, Paging file corruption, File system, Hard drive, Cabling, Virus infection, Improperly seated cards, BIOS, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack

And I'd also go into Services and switch the Bonjour Service from Automatic Start to Manual Start.

Does the external use its own drivers? If so, look for updates.

Strange that the kernel_data_inpage_error BSOD dumps aren't there. I did see this in the Resource and Performance Monitor report -

Severity: Informational
Symptom: Missing Events in Event Log
Details: Investigate why 12% (2,495) events were lost during data collection. The settings for Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) maximum buffers and buffer size may not be optimal depending on which data sets are being collected.

Could this be related? Is there anything I can do to recover the dump files? This happened more recently (today) than the usb driver issue. Again to clarify - you think these are likely to be 2 separate issues?

I would normally believe them to be separate issues.

To be honest I think AVG is your main issue, but the Bonjour service on Auto Start can also be problematic.

Ok, thanks again Julian.

As I said before I will follow all advice so far when I finish work shortly and see how it goes, will keep you posted.
Is a fairly intermittent problem and there's not really anyway for me to 'provoke' it happening so will be a case of wait and see. May be some time before it re-occurs if not solved so hope you can keep an eye for this thread.
