Keyboard doesn't work

The keyboard doesn't work. I have two keyboards (ps/2 and usb) and after uninstalling my antivirus (avast), none of them work in windows (they work in bios section). All other usb devices like mouse and gamepad work.
Here is the screenahot of device manager:

Try one at a time- right click each keyboard device listed. Then in new small window that appears left click update driver.

No - It didn't work. I even disable/enable or uninstall the keyboard devices but nothing solved.
Here is the error note in keyboard properties hardware:

Device status:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Unplug all but one of the keyboards. One keyboard at a time.
Steps below to try to fix the problem. I added the red Step #'s so it would be easier to follow.

Code 19 :
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry)

Step #1 To fix this problem you can first try running a troubleshooting wizard. If that does not work,
you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device. (Code 19)

A registry problem was detected.
This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure opening
the service subkey, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service subkey.
Try these options:
Step #2 On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
Click Uninstall, and then click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver.
Step #3 Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration, which rolls
back to the most recent successful registry configuration.

This is all I could find at the moment. Step #3 might be the easiest and would put the registry back where it was hopefully.

In the picture you will see "Last Known good cofiguration" listed. Click it and follow prompts.

Plug in what ever keyboard you want to use and shut down. Then start up and see if Windows 7 will pickup the drivers. Windows 7 has a lot of built in drivers.

Also, since this is USB related, I would suggest some USB troubleshooting steps:

  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.

  3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
     cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices."   4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all

  5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
     and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
  6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Thanks for all of your answers. but it seems that I found the root of the problem. in the driver details section of keyboard devices there is an avast driver named aswKbd.sys (avast! Keyboard Filter Driver) located in c:\Windows\System32\drivers
So how can I remove it? is simply delete that file, do the trick? or not?

If you are using Avast security remove it and install MSE and update it and run complete scan.

I have also read that Avast keyboard filter can also be an infection. Also use this after updating.

When you remove avast!, make sure to use the avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal.

I removed the avast before (with that avast! Uninstall Utility )
I deleted the aswKbd.sys but the keyboard is still not working. some help?

What is Windows Defender Offline?

I installed the (avast internet security) again and the keyboards worked again. Like I said my problem related to that "aswKbd.sys" (avast! Keyboard Filter Driver) and not a USB problem because all of my other USB devices like Mouse & gamepad & webcam &... works. (and also before reinstallation of avast, my PS/2 keyboard didn't work (a PS/2 keyboard)).
Now I want a solution that after removing the avast, my keyboards would work...

I see no reason Avast should have control over your mouse and or keyboard.
Many members have removed Avast and installed MSE and not one that I can remember ever mentioned a keyboard/mouse problem caused by doing this.

Thank you for that website. But I can't try the solution on that topic, now. Because I reinstalled the avast and everything is fine now. I will try that, after removing the avast sometime later...

Well okay. I would like to know how things come out. I would never let a anti virus own my computer but that's just me. I would also like to feel that I haven't wasted my time doing the research for this problem and then not knowing if things work without Avast.
