Hey guys.

My os is the Win ultimate 64 bits, when i start my computer the keyboard drivers disappear.

If i turn on the computer and enter the bios setup (just enter and quit) the keyboard drivers are back. But if i turn on the computer without enter the BIOS setup, the drivers are missing.

In the Device Manager the keyboard is accepted as a standart keyboard.

My keyboard have a PS2 conector, it´s from Acer. Yes i now, it is very old and the Acer don´t do keyboards anymore consequently, they don´t do drivers too.

I don´t now if this post is in the correct section, and sorry for my poor english :)

Plz anyone can help me?

Have you considered buying a PS2 to USB adapter?

Amazon.co.uk: ps2 to usb keyboard adapter

Failing that, you could buy a new USB keyboard or even a wireless keyboard that is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.

Hi :)

Tks for help man, but i don´t think that is a keyboard problem, the keybard works fine, i think this is a windowns problem, the system delet the drives, if i start de computer and enter the bios the keyboard works normaly (and the win don´t delete the drive), but if i don´t enter the bios, the drivers aren´t there.

But thanks for help.

Anyone have another idea?

I suspect it is a keyboard issue. Keyboard drivers are in Windows, not BIOS. do make sure you have the proper setting in BIOS to enable a keyboard.

Definitely not a Windows issue if it corrects itself after going into the bios. Windows can only work with what it can "see", and if it isn't detected by the bios then Windows won't see it either.

Sounds more like either the PS2 port on the motherboard may be faulty, or for whatever reason it isn't being initialized upon startup. In the bios settings which is the default for the keybord; is it USB or PS2? If it is USB, then it could also be that the motherboard battery is dead or dying and resets that setting once shutdown. If that is what it is it is a quick and easy fix (cheap CR2032 battery that can be bought anywhere watch batteries are sold), by replacing the battery.

Britton30 Thanks for help.

I run msinfo32 and all devices are Ok.. :(

stormy13 Thanks for help too :)

I bought this motherboard just a few days ago.. because of that i don´t suspect that is a motheboard battery problem..

I enter the BIOS and search search and search for this information (wich is the default for the keyboard) but i didn´t find it... My motheboard is a Asus P8H67.. can you help me telling where it is?

Thanks for all the suport guys

Keep Rocking :)

Had a look through the manual and didn't see anything. Only thing that I found to do with the PS2 port is whether to allow for a PS2 mouse or keyboard to power on the computer (both disabled by default).

If you haven't make sure that the I/O plate (the back panel insert that came with the motherboard) is fitted correctly and that the keyboard plug isn't making contact anywhere.

You're welcome w4r. If your board had been in the store/warehouse for some time the battery could be bad. If you have a voltmeter it is easy enough to check voltage, it should be 3.3V or so for a new one.
