Solved keyboard keys do not correspond with what I have typed

Hi,
Just changed from my old IBM PC to a new asus with Windows 7 OS.
I have a keyboard problem when I hit @ I get " and vice versa
# is the pound sign.
What setting do I have to change to make it right
Just joined tonight and this is my first post.

This sounds like a joke, but I'm serous. It is difficult to get English keyboards here in Mexico, so I am using a Mexican keyboard on a computer that is set for American English. The keys type the same thing that an English keyboard types, but the keys are sometimes labeled differently.

You might have a foreign keyboard, or your keyboard setting might be set for another country. You need to check an English keyboard to see if your keys are labeled the same way.

Thanks for that, I will borrow a keyboard, that way I presume we will know if it is the settings or the keyboard.

It may even be a Language and Region setting. Please click the rb:, afterwards type in Region and Language.
Once inside click on top tab "Keyboard and Languages".
make sure the settings are correct.

It was the settings, I had the US version I now have UK version where I am based.
