Keyboard keys got reassigned, need help getting them restored

My dad had a puppy step on his keyboard on his laptop and a number of the keys had their functions changed, can someone help me get them restored to their original function. "a" got reset to windows help, = has been added to the enter key, etc.

As this is a laptop and it's unlikely that the puppy had any IT knowledge, I would check in the documentation to see if there is a key combination to re-assign key use, ( this is often done with a Function + Key combination), to access a numeric keyboard or similar (repeating the Function Key combination normally reverses the change, but some set-ups may differ)

I agree Nigel however my partners grand kids who do not fully understand keyboards either are frequently "trashing" her laptop by playing as one might with a piano, so I am just or was just guessing the dog may have hit bt pure chance a series of key strokes to cause this issue.
I stand to be corrected because I am not that informed on how one does that intentionally - if on so desired

John, I don't have any laptops with the condensed keyboard, (the ones with the Number pad Embedded into the right side keys of the main alphabet keys), but they used to use a Function Key +key combination to switch between the regular and embedded Numeric pad. I've done it myself so it's not a difficult thing to manage

Check the keyboard for a set of number keys (a bit like the 1 to 0 keys on a desktop keyboard where each key has a shifted option as well as the normal key). if the keys are there it's likely there is a key combination that switches it - the manual (online or actual), should state what this is, (if the keyboard has a function key, this is normally a different colour to the rest and the functions are marked in this colour)

Yep Nigel I always pick laptops with the "add on"/ separate numeric pad but I cannot say any of them have that feature - not that I have gone looking that is. They do have the arrow keys, Page up and down and insert and home on them but have never used them that way.

I was just thinking maybe the pet trod on alt ctrl plus others that produce the effect the OP had - like I said I am not into changing key functions for anything specific like some like to.
