Running Win7x64 I have been experiencing intermittent keyboard run-ooooooooooooon. (it just did it, so I'll leave it in there) As you can see, when I start to type fast, it seems to get a key stuck and off it goes. It will go until you hit the backspace key. I'm using a MS media pro with Intellitype 7. I have done the driver re-install and swapped keyboards to an old ps2 Kb with no luck. Any ideas??

Eliminate the simple things first:

What's your keyboard Repeat Delay / Repeat rate set to in the Windows keyboard properties?

kb repeat.JPG

And what is it set to in the keyboard software? (assuming it has it's own control panel)

Is the media pro a USB or PS/2 kb?

How long has this been going on for? Perhaps a System Restore could take care of it.

We can just go by what you tell us. Are you sure it happens more often in a broswer window or when on the computer you usually use the browser?

If you have a touch pad, is it too sensitive?

EXACT same problem.

Clean install, new HD, 64 bit, repeat rate OK.

Also doesn't seem to occur when browsers are closed.

Coincides with blinking cap num and shift lock lights.

Could there be something in Win7 that blocks ads or pop ups or in the defense that isn't allowing something but is trying to alert me through the lock lights?

This has loads of annoying safety features like running everthing in admin for things to work, or blocking access to temp files even to admin.

Could there be something like spybot or something trying to run automatically and it's being blocked by some admin status?

It's horribly annoying filing out forms online or typing long passwords, and really bad playing games.

It is completely random, and when I close all browsers and watch a dvd or something the lights don't blink.

When they do, it's random. Sometimes not for an hour, sometimes for 5 minutes straight.

I just checked the event log and it seems it may be coinciding with Software Protection Service.

Googled it and saw several other problems with mice and such.

Not 100% sure, but sounds like more than a coincidence.

Thoughts any1?

This is a Desktop PC and the keyboard works nicely in other PCs. The second I plug it back in to the Win7 one, it starts flashing again

It says that Software Protection Service starts in one Event log, and then ends in a 2nd report. It may be during this time all goes haywire.

It ran problem free for about a month b4 this started.

It appears no one has a clue on this, but I thought I'd give my latest observation.

I was listening to internet radio and started hearing the stream stutter.

I looked and all three lights were flashing. num, cap, scroll

The browser was using nearly all the cpu.

A reboot cured this.

This type of thing has happened on 3 different browsers.

I listen very often to internet radio. The page, even in mini media player, has about 3 flash changing banner ads.

If some one knows of a connection between browser activity and my keyboard, any help would be appreciated.

There is no documented connection between browser and keyboard. What browser are you using? Does it occur with Firefox?

BTW I just noticed you're new here. Welcome!

thx for the welcome.

I have tried with Firefox, Explorer, Opera and Maxthon 2.

All cause at times my streaming to stutter and simultaneous my lock lights to flash and typing to run on.
