I got a new multimedia keyboard for my dad's PC last week. Keyboard seems to work strange.

If we keep it idle for a bit it types automatically some gibberish. First time I assumed may be my dad kept his hand unknowingly but today even I noticed it. I stepped away from the computer to check on my laptop, when I came back it wrote some gibberish in the text screen.

I assumed it was some sort of virus or something so I ran AV scan but results were zero infections found. Ran sfc scannow, it said one problem was identified & was repaired. These 2 happened before the auto type happened.

Any ideas on what else to check up ?

Perhaps it is a hardware issue (maybe some keys are sticking).

How old is the keyboard/PC?

You could also try:

  • Jiggling the keyboard cable
  • Plugging the keyboard into a different port/socket
  • Using a different keyboard
