I got a computer with newest version of Norton's whats the best way to delete.

I use Revo Uninstaller, but don't want to mess something up.

Norton and symantec products should be uninstalled using the norton removal tool, mainly because the windows uninstaller can't completely remove some norton products on its own.

edit: lol above poster beat me to it

When you have completed with the removal tool you might want to delete Norton in your registry by regedit in the command prompt. Chances are it will still be there. If you have never gone into the registry then do not try this as you can really mess up the Computer. HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Also if anyone does any updates for Adobe, be sure to check the area where it asks if you do not want to download Norton scan or it will install it.

Hi eldinv,

You have been given good advice re using the appropriate Norton Uninstall / Removal Tool.
Reboot on completion.
Do a search for anything Norton. Remnants can still remain.

Make sure you install another Anti Virus on completion of the above.
Then proceed to update it.

Good luck.

Thanks all, I trusted my good ole tool Revo Uninstaller. It promoted the Norton Removal process, but after uninstaller it said to restart and I click yes, I thought it would restart after scanning for leftovers but no.

Once it rebooted Norton was toasted, maybe some things left behind but it's better than not uninstaller at all.

I'm glad things went well. At this point I would make sure to create a new restore point. Install MSE or what ever security you have bought before going on line with that computer. If you use Ccleaner to check for left overs of Norton just measure twice and cut once; as the old saying goes. Again after the removal of everything and your new security installed and you are happy I would defrag and make a new restore point.
