guys, pls help.. i have this problem about a kaspersky driver called "kl2". its a non-plug and play driver. its not functioning when i checked it in my device manager. what is the impact of this problem in my system? how can this be solved? pls help out. I am using a samsung r580 laptop, with windows 7 home premium os. this is what i found in the device manager while checking out the said driver: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)

I am currently using kaspersky anti-virus 2011. its not acting funny though the device manager said that this kl2 driver from kaspersky is not working properly or whatever. Im just wondering how can I fix this. pls help...

Device manager should not be showing an antivirus driver.
Device manager is as stated Device listing. Hardware and the drivers for that hardware.

Uninstall Kl2. in Device Manager. Right click and delete if option is listed on the driver listing.

If it will not delete you may have to remove kaspersky completely.

Mike

Any other suggestions or confirmations would be nice.

Remove Kaspersky completely using this removal tool: Tool. The tool should get all traces of it off of your system. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. After you have run the tool, check Device manager and see if that listing is gone. Post back and let us know.

Download and install Malwarebytes (free), update it and run a quick scan. If MBAM finds anything, run a deep scan.

This issue seems to be a common one. Try uninstalling KIS completely, reboot then reinstall. If the error still persists just ignore it, its not actually impacting the system in any way. Also, see this thread.

@ Hopalong: I enabled the "show hidden devices" in the view menu of the device manager.

I already uninstalled the KAV and installed it again but still the same error exists. I guess i'll try installing the 11.0.400 as yowan said. thank you very much for the ideas guys... I reli appreciate it.

By the way, I have this other problem with my default player setup. whenever I specify a program to always open a specific type of file (e.g. : Windows Media Player to open .avi files) it always return back to winamp as the default program. even though I didnt reboot my laptop. its reli a drag going abck to the "open with" option again and again... how can this be worked out guys? already tried setting my default media player from the control panel but the same thing still happens...

Considering that kl2 is not bothering you in any way, you're spending way too much time over it.

Open Control Panel. Then open Auto Play.

Click each drop curtain on the right as in the picture and select what you want to use.
If you don't have a preference leave it default.

When you are finished choosing click SAVE in bottom right corner.
