 HELP? I am running WIN 7. home prem. Once in a while I download a video from the net,
Most of the time they play successfully, but once in a great while something gets screwed up.

Like this time I ended up with a frile called KT.AVI Now I can't play it, I can't rename it,
and worse still, I can't delete it, or uninstall it.
I can't do anything with it at all. As far as I know it's not hurting anything, but I want it gone.

Is there a solution to this problem besides a reinstall ?
I certainly would like some help on this one.

 :geek:

Welcome to SevenForums

In many cases simply rebooting your computer may release whatever is preventing you from taking ownership of the file, After reboot try to delete the file.

If that does not work try this tutorial from SevenForms and see if that helps

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1911-take-ownership-shortcut.html

If this works mark your question as solved, If it doesn't work I or somebody else would be glad to help you further

Sorry friend, but that doesn't work either. I have tried that before. Guess it's a lost cause. Thanks anyway.

I would use a live Linux CD to delete it.

Well I tried all of the suggestions but it just wouldn't budge. Then someone suggested a program
named: MOVE ON BOOT, low and behold, that did it. So thanks for all the help, it is now done.
