I went ahead and created the default(no signup).Do I have to be online to play this game?I take my laptop to friends often & allot of them don't have internet.I figured as big as this game is,I got all that is needed for the game.Is the default account able to work offline?
What is so special about it being online?Is it just for the silly lil icon achievements & community support?Or does rockstar just give you part of the game,then you have to download levels once you get so far?If that is so,that is pretty darn crappy of rockstar.

from what ive seen so far, you don't need an internet connection to play. The default profile is just so you can save your progress and continue playing. Joining the social club is just so you can get achievements or help on cases in case your stuck on a case or something. I think its also to check if you wanna buy additional content, joining the club isn't required from what i ve seen. i recently started playing myself as well

Social club is not required to play as vierasniper has mentioned, it used to be mandatory to sign up for social club but a lot of people complained about it with GTA 4, so they made it so you could play offline but need social club to play online. I assume it is the same case here.
