Hi,
I'm trying to create a network in order to share files between a PC running winxp and a laptop running win 7 with a RJ-45 cable connected directly to both computer's network cards
what do I need to do to make it work? I've tried almost everything...!

Are you getting an error message? what happens when you try? You should use the workgroup model given your mixed environment

Make sure you are using a Cross-over ethernet cable between 2 pc's & not a standard ethernet cable.

i'll tell you guys what I did:
I've connected the cable and configured static IP's on the local area connections
192.168.0.1 + 192.168.0.2 and the subnet mask of course,
I set up a network on the XP PC and it made me a bridge connection on the network connections list (which is enabled)
I can see the XP computer name on my Win 7 laptop and the name I gave to the network is written below... but theres no access between the computers, It doesnt let me in the XP-PC from my Win 7 laptop...
