I got a new P55 motherboard. I installed windows. The board was giving me problems. I put my old P45 motherboard into the case and booted form the same hard drive. (Windows 7 64 bit) It booted up fine but no internet.

I put in the P45 driver disk to install it's drivers. All installed fine except for the ethernet controller driver. It says "Reg DBGet key Valueex : failed" (no spaces)

What would this mean? Something in the registry? I un-installed the P55 driver that was on the HD. Also I "disabled" the device in device manager.

I have an image I created from the P45 board I could simply replace this installation with this image, but would like to just get this driver installed and everything will work. It's right here on the disk but it gives me this error.

Does anyone know an easy way around this?

1. I would remove the DISABLED.
2. then click DELETE. after then REBOOT
3. Win7 should install the correct driver. for your LAN.
4. Then open Network and sharing. delete the internet link which Win7 should auto find and setup.
5. Move down to SET UP a NEW connection.
follow the instructions.
You should have no problems after that.

1. I got the network controllers to show up (dual LAN)
2. Delete what?
3. Will Windows 7 install even without a connection?
4. I don't understand "delete the internet link"

The rest I understand. I hate to act like a noob but it has been some time since I ran into a problem like this. I have a 10GB image....I may just put it on the drive and it should work like the day I created it.....if it's a pain in the butt for you just tell me and I'll just do that. I'll be it takes like 10 minutes. haha

Thanks for the help Snuffy. I put my image on here and it's working now. Sorry I didn't know how to follow your directions. They are good ones I'm sure. I am just "still learning"

I got it working.

Using your image would have replaced the correct drivers for the lan.
That is basically what I wanted you to do.

Finding the lan drivers, and delete them, it will ask everything related to and answer yes. then reboot, it will install the correct Drivers for the old board.

You did the same by restoring the old image.

Glad you got it working...

I will try this next time I change. I will get the new board back this week or next.

Do you mean go into device manager and delete the driver from there? If I did that I should be able to put the driver disk into the DVD drive and install the driver from there. That's what I did and had problems. However I never did set up the new connection. I thought it would just start working. I have done this 2-3 times and it has worked that way before. I wonder if it has to do with the new P55 board.
