Newbie --> I am thinking to upgrade to Win7 PRO, however purchasing it where I live costs a lot more than ordering from the USA online. My question is, does Win7 Pro come will language installation options like WinXP Pro does? Or do you have to order/purchase/download a separate language pack/software?

Hello xira, welcome to Seven Forums!

Windows 7 Ultimate is the only version that is capable of a language change and that through a language pack update from MS; be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Sorry, I just want to understand... I need the system to be in English, I only need support of another language. Is this what you're referring to? Or are you referring to the entire system being in another language only in Ultimate with a language pack?

Another quick question (which I am sure has been asked) can one upgrade to Ultimate from XP Pro?

Hello again.

I'm not real sure what you are asking in the first question, if you install in English the system will be English.

There is no upgrade path from Windows XP to Windows 7, it will have to be a clean install; the best way to go forward is to make back-ups of the data you need to save and do a wipe (secure erase) of the entire Hard Disk Drive, have a look at this information below.

All the installed programs/apps will have to be reinstalled so be sure to save the activation keys where applicable and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

   Information

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Windows drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.
