Laptop CPU Damaged?

Good Day

On Friday afternoon I was working on my laptop when the RAM (8GB DDR3) was too overloaded (I had alot of programs running) and the Laptop hanged, as it sometimes does.

Now since I was in a hurry I just shut the laptop down at the power button and put it in my bag. When i got home, I noticed that the laptop was still running when I took it out of the bag (could hear the fan) and it was running quite hot, so it was probably in sleep mode since the lid was closed.

Now my PC is slower than it should be and I wonder if my CPU didn't overheat or some components weren't damaged.

How can I test if my CPU is damaged, or any of the other component for that matter? Problem is that my laptop is slower than normal, even though it is not running at abnormal temperatures...

CPU's don't get "Damaged" in the conventional sense --they either work or don't work.
If the fan for instance fails then some CPU's have a mechanism which slows them down to stop overheating -- but I doubt seriously that you could accidentally damage a laptop CPU fan.

High power CPU's (especially i7's) in the restricted space of a laptop generate a LOT of heat - which is quite normal --sometimes they are even too hot to actually have on your "Classical Lap".

I don know that if hard drives overheat, you run the risk of corruption to the filesystem on the drives -- which could then result in a slowdown due to attempted repeated reads of corrupted sectors -- but if that happened, you should be seeing results of that, like programs failing.

Wouldn't hurt to run a Check on the drive just to be sure.
