Hey I am looking for a new laptop to get for college, I am going to be majoring in Computer Science. I have always been a PC gamer so I don't know how less I can get and have a usable computer. I already have a enthusiast level computer so I don't need much, also what could I use to connect the two without a wireless router they aren't allowed at my university

ps. I want really really cheep bare minimum but still usable 1 or 2 years

Your gonna get milions of different views on this, but I like the acer aspire series, they are not top of the ling, but the newer one in the mid range price have i5's in them, decent intel graphics, and perform pretty well when given normal to medium tasks and can play Skyrim pretty well :D

Shame you can't build laptops :(
I've liked the Dell XPS and Alienware laptops, so if you can afford it, an Alienware M14X would be pretty nice. If you don't have the budget or aren't as willing to spend so much, XPS 15 laptop details

Cant wait :)
Head to your local Best Buy or equivalent and check them out in person. Then, when you have a feel for size, brand, etc, head back home and shop online.

As for connecting them, you could get/make a crossover cable, or just get a switch for your room that will split the wired connection.
