Laptop freezes on windows 7 and 8.1

My laptop is an MSI GE60 2OE. I have had this laptop for less than a year.
Here is my dilemma, it's kind of long because a lot has happened.
A week ago, I had windows 8. My laptop froze for no reason, I restarted it, and after that, my disk usage was at 100% every day when I turned it on.
And because of this, the next day my laptop would enter a black screen whenever I started it up after the loading screen. For some reason, no solutions worked and I couldn't system restore or refresh. So I messed around in BIOS and somehow I was able to do a system refresh. I was able to access my files and my computer. HOWEVER, my laptop kept freezing.
I then tried a reset with recovery disks. My laptop would freeze for about 15 minutes with 100% disk and then work as normally. However, every time I restarted my computer it would freeze. Thinking this was a windows 8 problem, I tried every solution like disabling super fetcher, messing with Regedit, windows defender, redownloading loading my WLAN driver, and changing my battery performance. All of which did not work.
So I tried installing windows 7. My computer did not freeze for a while, okay maybe for 2 hours. Then, after I downloaded all my drivers and I loaded my files onto my computer, it began to freeze again. The freezing gets worse every time I restart it. It still freezes even after 20 minutes. I am running cnhdsk right now.

I don't know if this is a windows 7/8 problem, or a hardware issue. What should I do?

Hello and welcome praise mate could be either or malware.

Now we shall have to look at the model specs as there are no specs and it is very useful to have those up front mate as it saves us chasing down them by searching the machine model.

However can you boot into safe mode?? if so then that chkdsk is best run with the /f and even the
/r switches.

Also while the machine still running can you run Speccy and let us know the temps please.

My computer does not freeze in safe mode. I can't really click on the specs link because my computer freezes for a really long time. I can't run speccy right now either because chkdsk is still running. (The f and r switches are running too)

Not a problem praise let us know what comes up. Now out of inters what media did you use for the 7 an OEM or the retail either way it doesn't really matter I suppose because loading it straight from either will give you a much less clogged up machine by getting rid of the bloatware.

I believe it's an OEM.

That is a disk I take it? if so you can try this method just is case the disk is corrupt though I doubt it really it.

I downloaded a Win7 ISO file and wrote it to a USB stick. Then I installed Win7 with it.

Now I don't like going the same ground but did you buy a key then download the ISO?? If so ok but if you went ahead and just downloaded the ISO and have no activation key / code for it then that is probably your problem or best part of it.

If you have an activation code then use that tutorial I posted to get another ISO of 7 see pic.

I just wanted to add that I ran chkdsk and my computer stopped freezing-- for a while. Now, my computer will not start up. It keeps going into start up repair.

Ok mate now if you can get it to run for a while after a chkdsk - did you run th switches /f and - or /r ?? If you can get into safe mode if you have some malware scans installed already the run them and we recommend these

I am also looking along the lines of the hard drive being bad so a test with this would not go amiss if you can keep it running long enough.

My laptop has stopped running. Whenever I try to enter safe mode or normally, I get the blue screen.
The error is STOP c0000145 and the error code is 0xc0000006.

Actually Greg I am wondering if the drive is shot?? or even the BIOS or would that have no effect on getting a boot?

Now as opposed to the usual drive testersthis specifically tests the surface of (usually) a spinner.

It will test the surface of the spinningdisk, and I suspect some idea of the performance of the read / write heads function / capabilities.

I want to try it, but my computer doesn't even boot up. As of now, I'm trying to revert back to windows 8 but the clean install doesn't work. After I enter the generic product key, it works. But after installing, I get an error.
Every OS I have tried to install does not work.

Personally I would wipe or clean all that drive and format it before trying to install anything I don't know what Greg thinks but I would suspect it is clogged with bits and pieces or the drive is shot.

Have you access to another computer to see what is on that drive if not you could try this.

BOOTABLE UBUNTU

Make a bootable Ubuntu disk http://www.ubuntu.com/download

Set the BIOS to boot from theoptical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL> select TRYnot INSTALL

When it is finished - it takes verylittle time you will get a screen like in the pic .

Open the drive you want > Userand dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy /paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doingthis.

I am not sure if it will but I haverecovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or justplain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.
You have access to the net and may even be able to run tests on it via that venue - I don't know as I have never actually had to try that.
There is also a bootable Partition Wizard too Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD. that may helpful too.
