laptop goes blank after 10 minutes of inactivity until use of mouse

hi, hopefully someone can help me with this as it is very bloody annoying. hopefully im not being an idiot but theres every chance i am.
i have had my acer aspire e1-531 for a couple of years and never had any problems. over the last few weeks whenever i watch a movie/tv show the screen will go blank after 10 minutes then instantly back on again when i use the mouse or keyboard. i have my laptop running through my tv via hmdi, this happens to the laptop aswell as the tv though. i have checked multiple times the screen saver settings and power options and all settings are as i had them when this problem wasnt happening.
i do download a fair amount from kickass could it be possible its somekind of virus/annoying-technical-thing that my anti virus hasnt come across?
any help with this would be very much appreciated, cheers

The first thing you need to do, is go back in and disable the screensaver.

Then go into Power Options in the control Panel and set 'Turn off monitor' to Never.

There are several things that can alter those settings.

If you change your desktop Themes, you will usually get the screen saver turned back on.

I change my own desktop Theme often, and I always have to turn OFF that danged Screen Saver.

(I NEVER use screen savers, Sleep or Hibernate, on any of my PC's) That prevents many problems.
