Solved Laptop gpu on fire - help

.For some time now I've been having fps issues. I log into a game...I play for 10-15 minutes....The heat on the graphics card goes up to 80-90 degrees and the fps drops from +60 to 10-15 fps. If i start the game with my integrated card, it works ok ~30 fps depending on the game, constantly, with a bit of lag when the temperature goes up ( But not as much as when i use the graphics card...The games are actually playable with the integrated one).

My graphics card is Nvidia GT555M
Windows is fresh reinstalled (for this issue), all drivers should be up to date, no network problems ....Temperature of gpu usually is at 3-10 degrees lower the the motherboard and processor tho the left part heats up pretty badly, a bit of the left part (Some plastic melted ) where the radiator is or whatever that is....(Anyway where the tab key is to the left ...).

id hazard an accurate guess that its poorly applied or poor in general thernal paste on the GPUs heat sink.

how old is the laptop? if youve had it a little while and its only started recently it could be a build up of dust clogging the heay spreader or fan duct.

take as much of the case off as possible and give it a vacuum. as well as a blast of air from a compressed can (most supermarkets that sell pc bits will do it). if this doesnt work then id suggest taking the heat spreader off the gpu, cleaning the TIM compound with alcohol and reapplying some new stuff.

The thing that melted , the plastic , happened long time ago tho, and i did clean it lately as much as i could( I don't have a can of compressed air, i must buy one ,i'll try tonight cleaning it with that) but its still burning, i also have a really good cooling pad , but its still not enough. The temperature doesn't exceed 92-93 degrees when stressed but im having fps issues from 80 degrees up.

I don't think I will be able to reapply the thermal paste as it looks like a big job. Also, if it was dusty, wouldnt the onboard card be hot too? Perhaps I could try some more things? Thanks

well the onboard card wont draw as much power so wont be so hot. PLus the gpu probaby has its own heat spreader and or fan duct so thats the part that could be clogged.

Sainburys sell compressed air if youve got one local. Also this problem is hardware based not software, so to solve it youll have to get your tools out or pay someone to do it.

90c+ is HOT regardless, and normally laptops dont tend to melt lol so its not an issue that should be ignored.

Is there a software way to make the fans run faster as well if I got the dust away?

trust me at 90c the fans will be at 100% load, they couldnt get any faster without the thing taking off!
