Laptop has problems with charging unless I wiggle the charging pin.

Hi, I'm having problems charging my gateway laptop unless I wiggle the charging pin and power brick a certain way. I have tried replacing the charger and battery. It doesn't help. Also If I run on straight AC with no battery the laptop will shut off if it moves due to the contact problem. Does any one know why this happening?

how old is the laptop sounds like your ac in port has de-soldered from the psu part of the motherboard. its the most common thing to break on laptops since they get a lot of stress from the cables pulling on them or they are built cheap either way. is is it still in warranty?

This laptop is 3 years old, I got it for free last year because the owner didn't want it. I have no warranty. I did not have this problem until last month or so.

Also The charging pin just got really hot and burned my finger

was the pin inside the laptop when it burned you it sounds like you need to get he ac component of your laptop replaced for sure.

It was the little metal piece that goes into the laptop. Also when that happened I was trying to get it to make contact with the pin.

If it's getting hot enough to burn you it could be a fire hazard. Please get the laptop serviced by experienced personnel. And please don't use it until you do.

Thanks, Guys I just bought a new laptop from Amazon for school. What do you guys think, I know it runs android, but that's all I need because I have other computers at home here. and My college has a lot of computer labs.

I think it would have been better if you get a Android tablet like the Nexus 7 and a Bluetooth keyboard or a Surface.

The nexus 7 is on my christmas list, but I would be afraid to bring it too school because its expensive and fragile, I would also perfer to have the keyboard built in to the unit.
