I started noticing last night my laptop losing network connection to the internet. The problem seems intermittent in nature but annoying at inconvenient times. I've tried resetting my PCs wireless NIC but the problem seems to persist. This laptop had Windows 8 on it when I got it over a year ago but I downgraded it a long time ago to 7 Ultimate. All drivers were installed fine with the exception of the Ethernet Controller and USB Controller because I could not find those drivers anywhere!

Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing these connectivity issues? I'm hoping my NIC isn't going bad.

By changing the channel, will that affect any other devices connected to it? A few mobile devices are set to use the router's channel as "Auto."

I changed the channel to 6 but a lot of mobile devices didn't like that change so I switched it back to Auto. Since then, I haven't seen any disconnects. Maybe that channel switch helped. :)

Unfortunately, it looks like it's not fixed. Is there anything else I could try? No other devices appear to be affected.

Well networking really isn't my strong point. I would try a usb wireless adapter to see if it's just the laptop card. I could look for the eather net controller if you post the hardware id's for it.

I will try that! The other thing I'm noticing is that internet speeds over my wifi are HORRIBLE! I'm supposed to be getting 10mbps download time and over wireless I'm getting around 1.33mbps vs. wired is 17.52mbps.

I have since wiped the laptop that has been losing network connectivity and re-imaged it. So far, it's not losing a connection anymore. Makes me think it may have been a corrupted driver somewhere...
