Hi I have an Asus P50iJ Laptop,heres a link to it Newegg.com - ASUS P50IJ-X2 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core T4400(2.20GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel GMA 4500M

My problem is that it keeps shutting down and I cant find the problem.I dont think its overheating because I opened it up and the fan was working fine and there was no dust in the fan or heat sink but I sprayed it down with some dust off anyway. This didn't fix the problem.I even tried taking it outside in some cold weather to see if it would help but nothing.
I tried a fresh windows 7 install but that still didn't work.It shuts off plugged in or running on battery to.
Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with it?I bought the laptop last February but it broke around August.

Could be the cmos battery on the board is bad, have you checked the asus site for the problem? Check temps with CPUZ or CPUID Hardware Monitor. I suppose it does a clean shutdown, no message on restart?

I never thought about that battery.Do you think putting the one from my desktop in it would be alright just to see if thats the problem?

Im about to take a look at the Asus site now.

No it just shuts straight off like if you were to take the battery out.I almost always get the message to check for problems on start up after it.

The battery from your desktop may be different, each board has a specific battery usually, check the numbers on top of the battery before trying anything like that...also check the event viewer to see if it shows anything...you might also see if you have the latest driver for the graphics, or even roll back to the original driver from asus...
