Hello guys,

So recently, i have bought a new Lenovo laptop. The problem is that, even though i have 2 graphics card installed and a 12 GB RAM, im still slow loading in even a shtty game. SO, my guess is that my laptop doesnt detect my NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M? The other gfx is my Intel HD Graphics 4000. So is there any solution that can make my laptop focus on one gfx which is my Nvidia gfx?

Heres my laptop specs:
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7-3612QM CPU @ 2.10GHz
12.0GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Nvidia GeForce GT 630M

*I cant also update my Nvidia gfx. When i tried to update it, it says its not compatible with my gfx...

As u see from my specs, i think that this laptop could run a normal game with high settings.

Thank you for your time.

What laptop model is it and it should have like some switchable graphics setting. I can't say much on what to do since I don't own a laptop but i've seen some dudes here on the forums that know about that stuff and know how to work the switchable graphics. Your going to have to wait for someone who knows about this subject.

There is no switchable graphics settings. Ive tried the NVIDIA but it still laggs.

Just a question, how much would u rate my laptop for running basic games, by seeing my specs?

*I tried running a game called Soldier Front/Special Force, and i still got fps laggs.
I checked my CCleaner. Usually, they will show u ur computer specs. They only show me my INTEL HD Graphics 4000, Nvidia driver didnt appear there...

According to Passmark Benchmarks, the 630 isnt one of the best. Maybe that's it?

Another person suffering from not being able to use switchable graphics. I too purchased a laptop with the 630M and an Intel HD Graphics 3000. I'm getting the same fps problems on even the shittiest of games.

The problem with your driver not being accepted is that your manufacturer has their own (very outdated) driver available on their site. I recently installed a beta driver from the nvidia site which was accepted but it made no difference.

I'd recommend taking the laptop back for a refund, I'll certainly be returning mine soon. Depending on where you got it from they should allow it as long as you make it clear that you're extremely unsatisfied and you feel you were missold a product.

Or maybe should i try to get another graphics card instead?

Becos i think refunding the porduct would not work as i bought this at an IT fair.

This is the thing that i found out. I went to lenovo website and found out that my laptop suppose to have an i5 processor. But im having an i7 processor. Maybe this should be the problem??

the difference between i5 and i7:
Hyperthreading.
Won't go into too much detail but hyperthreading is pretty much two virtual processing cores on one physical core.

For your problem:
You said two graphics cards were installed, but really theres only one. The other "graphics card" is actually built on to your motherboard, and so really doesn't count as a "graphics card".
I'm thinking maybe you haven't updated your drivers properly, so:
Drivers | GeForce
but I think I found the driver for you, which is:
Drivers | GeForce
and download your latest driver. Follow all the instruction and HOPEFULLY it'll work.

Also, check your Graphics Card has the specs required to play the game (if it can only run the game at minimum specs, expect to have low fps).

You can try seeing if your computer is using your onboard or your video card. Start > Search > "Device Manager" (without quotations) > click Device Manager.
Expand the arrow leading into "Display Adaptors" and it should tell you which one you're currently using.

Since I don't use laptops (Only my desktop, phone and/or tablet) I can't actually see what the problem is, but if those other suggestions fail then the only reason I can think of is your card was screwed up during the manufacturing process (or somewhere along the line) - if it is, just call Lenovo (they should have the customer support phone number on the receipt) and ask the technicians about your problem.

Good luck :)

Thank you for ur response. As stated above, i cant seem to update my driver to the latest version. It states that it is not compatible. So i tried installing the BETA version and it works. Im currently running on the BETA version.

Under my 'Display Adapters', theres 2 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 and GeForce GT 630M.

Ive tested it out and im still having these slow load and FPS laggs. I dont get it why i slow load when i have a good processor. :\

Ok,
Processors function as you'd expect them to function - they "process" data
Video cards also have processors. These video card processors process (sorry for the repetitive words) data to be used for the display.
In other words, video processors handle all the display related data - so anything you see on the monitor is handled by your VIDEO PROCESSOR.
Your other processor (the i7) handles other data - security checks, software running etc etc.

So pretty much, you can have the best processor on the market, but with a bad video processor you won't get very high fps.
Same as if you have the best video card for playing the best games at maxed settings and a really old processor, you won't get very far

If its framerate issues, then I suggest swapping out your current video card.
That, however, is impossible on laptops (from what I've heard, at least)

Really if you want good fps just switch to a desktop. :/
If you don't want to, like I said before, call Lenovo customer support (I spent a littleover an hour with Dell, but fixed it in the end) and see what they can do.

Ok thanks for the info.

About loading, im having slow load even though i have 12 GB RAM. Correct me if im wrong, loading of a game involves the RAM am i right? So i dont get why i still slow load with my 12GB RAM.

Yes and no.
RAM is Random Access Memory. The computer stores information into the RAM sticks so when you access the program again it can get to the stored information faster. HOWEVER, Video cards use RAM too, to store data related to the display.
IF a game is slow, it could be:
The Processor
The Graphics Card
The RAM
The Storage Device that the game is installed in

If the game is running slow, try turning all the graphics settings to minimum. If it still runs slow, it means that your graphics card isn't the problem.

Also, Download Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and run it for a few days to check if it's a problem with your Hard Disk.

Your computer is from Lenovo and they use their own models of RAM, so I can't actually tell whether or not it's the RAM problem.

For the processor, install CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting and check that your processor is running well.

If all these suggestions have been done and the game runs slow, like I said before, contact Lenovo.

Sidenote 1: As I said before, you really shouldn't use a laptop for high-end gaming. Laptops were made so you could carry it around easily.

Sidenote 2: If you find that some parts of your laptop are indeed failing, you really can't replace them (except for I think the RAM and Hard Drive, which I believe can be replaced).

Sorry but im a noob about these stuffs. When u mean run the memtest86+ for a few days u mean it takes more than 1 day?

And how do i download it? I found 2 options;
Download (Pre-built & ISOs)
Download (Source Code)

and what am i suppose to do?

EDIT: I checked my processor and theres no problems to it.

Don't be sorry, we were all noobs once :)
Memtest monitors your hard disk performance, so for the best results (unbias-ness) you should run it for a few days (which means keep your laptop on). After that few days of non-stop running, end the test and look at the results (or post a screenshot on to this thread).

For the download:
My bad, wrong link.
This is the right one:
