Laptop mousepad & power problem?

One of my friend HP laptop 6910p has mouse-pad problem. The mouse pad works fine while laptop is consuming battery but when charger is plugged-in, the mouse pad get stuck. Original Charger output is 90W. When another charger of 65 watt was connected then everything was working fine. Voltage output for both laptop is 19.5v & 4.6A.

So 65W is enough for this laptop or its low???

Since the original is 90w, I assume it's not suggest to use a lower voltage unless specified. This should be a problem with the 90w charger. While buying a new one should fix it, try out another charger with the exact model of the original one. Does the battery charge to full with the 65w charger, if it does, my guess would be it should be assumingly fine. Usually, using a lower voltage charger wouldn't work. Also, do you mean the recommended input is 90w?

Thanks for the suggestions.. we will try to charge the battery with 65W charger & will note that how much time it takes to get charged.. When i searched over internet both are compatible charger because both chargers have same output (voltage & current).. only difference is that one is 90W and other is 65W.

Some laptops (usually business, expensive ones) come with 2 ratings of charger. I have an IBM laptop and you can have a standard power brick of 65w for the laptop on its own or a 90w one for use on a docking station (the additional power being for the docking circuitry i.e. USB, external VGA etc). Both obviously, have the same V rating and I would be surprised if either would have any bearing on your mouse pad problem.
