Hi, I've just purchased a refurbished Dell E6400 laptop a couple months ago, OS is OEM Win7 Pro. It is

working fine with no service affecting problems. There is one issue I've been unable to find a resolution for,

when using ac power the laptop powers up immediately when the power cord is plugged in. I've looked and

looked through the choices for power options, plans, etc... and haven't found anything about this particular

setting. I'd like it if when I plugged it in it would wait until I pressed the power button, I haven't found

anything indicating this is default with no option to change it, if it is I can live with it but would rather use

the power button to turn it on.

Hi,
Not a built in windows function,
You would most likely need to go through the dell utilities to find the feature,
Where did you buy the model ?

I have a Toshiba Satellite & in the BIOS i have a setting to BOOT ON AC, it is disabled but if i enable it then i would have that function. so maybe you have the same setting in your BIOS.

That was it Stever1 checked the BIOS (F12 to access on this Dell) and there it was, big as the nose on my

face :o I guess I should have looked a little deeper but I thought it was a windows thing.

Thanks for the fix, you and Thrash get some kudos

Just a week ago i would not have known it myself,But the Toshiba is new & i could not get on with Windows 8.1 so i took it off & put Windows 7 on.one used GPT UEFI or EUFI or something & the other a normal MBR, & Legacy stuff. WOW! i learned a lot last week  Sorted it all out in the end though. im too old now to get into all this metro stuff & apps Start Screen stuff. Windows 7 works for me & i will stick with it until they stop doing updates. But if i had not needed to change the way the PC booted up i would never have seen the Boot on AC, :)
