Hello!

Half a year ago I bought a VAIO F13 series laptop with Windows 7 x64 system. Sice then it happened, three times if I remember correctly (like once every two months or so), that when I tried to shut down the laptop it wouldn't shut down (it stopped on the "Windows is shutting down" screen). I tried all the buttons and keys on the laptop but with no success. I had to remove the power cord and the battery to turn it off. Then, when I booted it again it was again all normal and working like a charm. That is the only real problem that I have with my laptop - other than that it works great. But still, I don't think that's normal, so, if anyone knows what could be causing that problem, please do tell.

Thank you!

First thing is to rule out the basic stuff. Run AV software, check system for any malware, spyware, adware or any other bugs that may be lurking on your system. Use more than one type malware software...each one can catch something the other doesn't. Then clean out the registry of bad strings and missing strings. Then defrag the HDD. Then will go from there.

Unless it has a solid state drive (SSD) in which case defragging wont improve performance and will increase wear on the drive.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
I've found a solution - I had to boot into safe mode and that's it. Thank you all, bye!

Your answer is little confusing - You mean you booted into safe mode once and the problem went away for subsequent normal boots?......

One way of shutting down a system completely in situation like yours is to press the power button and keep it holding for atleast 10 seconds till the system shuts down itself. No need to remove power cord or battery. This works for both desktops and laptops.
