Hi
My daughter has an Acer laptop, not sure of model. It has been slow booting up lately and now it will not boot up at all.
When the power button is pushed, the power light comes on an the light for the hard drive flashes, the Acer screen pops up and the light for the hard drive flashes again.
Then the computer shuts off and starts the process all over again, it will keep doing this until you remove the battery to stop it.
I was told that it was the Hard Drive, I hope not because that would be two in one week!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Boot into BIOS setup to see if HD is detected anywhere under Storage or BIOS BOot Priority order. If so it may appear as a Serial Number you can google to find the exact make/model.

If not detected, remove the HD from its bay underneath (easy to Google a video or check the Manual for your model on its Support Downloads webpage) to reseat it to see if you can get it recognized. If not, then replace it and do a Clean Reinstall Windows 7

If HD is detected test it and proceed with the other steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

I have pulled the hard drive, it will boot to BIOS and not shut down.
If I install the hard drive while in BIOs it does not pick it up.
If I shut down and restart with the hard drive reinstalled it begins shutting down again.

If it's a SATA drive you can slave it into a desktop PC. If that PC boots up OK then you can have a look in disk management. It might just be a messed up corrupt Windows install. If that's all it is you may be able to recover any files you need then wipe the drive and try reinstalling Windows. Doing a clean or clean all from diskpart will wipe the drive clean so you can repartition and reformat it. How old is this laptop? It its old you may want to run memtest or something similar to make sure its not bad RAM that's corrupting the file system on the drive.

Ok, so it wasn't a brand new hard drive? What happened to the original drive?

? In your first post you stated "I was told that it was the Hard Drive, I hope not because that would be two in one week!!!" I took that to mean this is the second hard drive to fail in that PC.

No only one!
We also had an external drive with family pictures and videos fail this week, that is what I meant by two in one week.

OK, what you originally said can easily be misinterpreted. If you have a desktop PC I'd slave that drive it and see if it is dead. If your external drive that died is in an enclosure that can be opened, you could use that instead of connecting the drive internally.
