Laptop won't Shutdown/sleep/hibernate but restarts

Hi,

I have HCL ICON 1015 laptop, I have brand new HDD installed and just installed Windows 7.

My problem is when I shutdown my laptop every thing looks fine i.e. logging off, shutting down. But after couple of minutes the rotating wheel in front of "SHUTTING DOWN" stops rotating, power LED stays on and fan also stays on. HDD stops blinking.

My laptop is 3 years old and power LED is no longer as bright as it used be.
