I've done a few Google searches and searched the forum also, there doesn't seem to be a simple consolidated answer to the simple question "What do I need to do with respect to PC shutdown, hibernation and sleep in order for planned recordings to work". Now silly me I thought - this is a robust Microsoft solution, if I set a test recording and then shut the PC down then Windows will handle that (changing shutdown into sleep/hibernation as appropriate). It didn't, it just missed the recording, can't say I was too suprised, but I was disappointed that MS hadn't handled this most basic of functionality.

So whats the deal ? Apologies if this seems a silly question, I'm new to Media Center and have done some searching on it.

It should come out of sleep to record, but there are known issues with some tuner cards.
