And speaking of re-makes, just watched the new Arthur (with Russell Brand and Helen Mirren).

What a disappointment! Totally lacking the charm of the original, not to mention the adorable Dudley Moore and the ever-quirky Liza Minelli.

Not seen a such a powerful story recently since One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Green Mile. Was mentally disturbed for few days after watching this movie. I have two college going sons in US and felt very sorry for Christopher McCandless and his wasted life. :shock:

well, who am I to judge? :p watched The Boat That Rocked (/Pirate Radio) and it was more down The Hangover 1 / 2 side of the funny/intelligent border between films than Into The Wild or the Horse Whisperer :p I ought to get round to watching those three films though, as they all look interesting, as the latter two look interesting and enlightening, and the former looks... 'fun' :)

I'd challenge anyone not to be affected by this movie. It's gory, but you won't laugh. It's shocking, but you won't be able to look away. 24 hours later it's still running through my mind and if I see a better horror movie than this this year, I'll be truly amazed.
As much as I'd love to write more this is most certainly a film you should watch knowing as little as possible. Suffice to say the acting, cinematography, score, atmosphere and unbridled tension combine to create one of the most engaging films in this genre of the last two decades.
