latest iso for laptop reinstall

A friend has a HP laptop dating from 2010 with preloaded 7 hp. It has a number of problems and I suggested a fresh install. The product code is still legible so activating will not be a problem but the original media is lost so loading from an iso would be the way to go. Is there an up to date iso available or will there be a large number of updates after activating?

There is only Windows 7 Service Pack 1, that is the latest, which itself is fairly old now.

That's what I was afraid of, looks like a lot of updates to do.

In the digital river iso page, there is mentioned SP1-U(media refresh edition) which is more up to date, could I use this?
