Latest Norton patch

It doesn't work well with Firefox as it did in the past. I have liked their safe site icon indication that I assume has been based on Norton and user experience but now it doesn't appear.

Norton support is useless.

Don't blame it on Norton, blame it on Mozilla FireFox. They have decided that many legacy add-ons are not good enough for the security of their users so they have disabled many and are no longer supported in FF. I am not a happy Firefox user. I would appreciate it if they let me decide if the add-on is safe or not.

I like Donna, like to choose what is right for my systems and my desires.
Saying that, most people don't have the knowledge or understanding that Donna has about computer security. That means the people who create Firefox hang on the safe side for the average user. One would hope the the creators of the add-on's would update their add-on's to meet today's security problems. If they would do that, those add-on's could be added back to Firefox.

The way I understand Mozilla's actions ...

The actual Excuse reason for the change from the old to new internal architecture of the firefox browser was related to re-organising the add ons "engine" to prevent the inevitable huge number of add-ons that used to fail every time the browser was updated, because some years old setting that no longer did anything directly for Mozilla's code was removed. This streamlining also produced a faster, leaner, browser

Think of it like the huge changes (The Revolution), made to Windows when moving from XP to Vista - This resulted, (along with many bad commercial decisions by Microsoft partners and re-sellers ), in Vista never quite being accepted as the revolution it really was, This was seen however in the huge appreciation for the next evolutionary step Windows7

Hopefully this "vista" phase for Mozilla will evolve into Firefox's own "Windows" 7 Era as We the windows user need a choice in browsers and, at least at present, this is mostly provided by Firefox and it's derivatives

That thought had crossed my mind. It is those who lack the knowledge of safety that must be considered. You can't make everybody happy and I think the majority of users are not as advanced as we are so the majority should be the ones whose best interests should be focused upon.

I came in on the Vista scene and loved that OS so I had nothing to compare with. XP was the go to OS for so long and people are creatures of habit. They do not like change. As a member of the Vista/W7 age, I got a taste of how the XPer's felt when W8/10 came along and I did not accept the change. I am still having a difficult knowing that soon W7 will be a thing of the past and I will have to move on to W8 or 10.

Hopefully the creators of those add-ons will update their add-ons to meet the expectations of Mozilla FF though I am afraid many of those creators have retired. Most of the add-ons that I did use were for the purpose of research, manage canned speeches, etc. My only hope is that the next generation of malware removal/analysts will find the need for those add-ons and create comparisons that do meet the needs of today's security problems.

I never used Vista but I'm thankful for all those that did use it. Vista was the brain child that got us to Windows 7. By the time the EOL comes for Windows 7 W-10 should be worth buying.

Chrome browser doesn't have this issue with the latest Norton update. Some don't like Google Chrome because they feel it has more data tracking. Really though, don't they all do this.
