Left side menu DIALOG BOXES. Why? HELP!

A few days ago I installed the latest collection of W7 updates (several weeks worth).

Since then, the drop-down menu dialog boxes in all of my programs now open to the LEFT of the menu drop down, whereas before they had opened to the RIGHT, (except when there was not adequate space on the right.) Being right-handed, this worked well for me.

I am desperate to reverse this. There's probably a simple fix but I can't find it.

HELP !!

Have you searched either here or on google? Both have solutions. search for drop down menu fix
