Hello everybody !

I kinda have a problem as the title states, hope I posted in the right section. My neighbor has a Lenovo G50 she bought and came with windows 8.1 x64 ( which she doesn't like at all and in my opinion win7 is far more superior and simple for her). The thing is I wanted to install her the Windows 7 Ultimate but every-time the " loading files " ends right after it boots from the dvd I get a bsod with the message " The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant Stop 0x000000A5 "
I tried all kind of different settings through the bios, changed from UEFI boot to Legacy / disabled secure boot / fast boot / I set the ACHI to compatible / but the end result is almost the same ( two times with different settings my screen froze with a red line over the top after loading the files )

My question is what the F is the problem and is there a fix for it? (of course it is,but I don't know it

Thank you

Well,it's a lenovo G50 (not the 500) to be more specific Lenovo G50 Laptop | Entry-Level Laptop with DVD Drive | Lenovo (US) but it's enough for her routine web surfing and stuff.

Yes,in the bios it was the option to reset to defaults but I couldn't see no reset to windows 8 defaults, only thing that mentioned the win8 was the " OS optimized defaults " where it was by default set as Win8 x64 and I even tried with the other two ( Win7 or Other OS )
Sadly I didn't see no option to enable CSM and I searched for it

What are the exact BIOS settings choices for UEFI, Legacy BIOS, Legacy Boot or any related settings? A camera snap would help - attach using paper clip in reply box.

Are UEFI devices still offered on the Boot Menu?

Try the extra steps given to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7

Between those and the tutorial I gave in my last post, trying every single step should sort it.

Well she took the laptop back because some login issues ( someone made her a stupid microsoft/outlook account ) but didn't tell her the password and couldn't log in ( this after she took out the pin code for the main user ) and apparently the guys from the shop told her that the laptop couldn't be " downgraded " to windows7 ( not sure if is indeed possible but I bet there are workarounds to install it if indeed is the case). I talked on the phone with the guys from the shop and asked them personally about this and if is any " security " stuff implemented to force you to use 8.1 and they kept saying that I won't succeed on changing the windows cause this laptop came pre-installed with it and it forces you to stay on it

I also have Lenovo G50-30. When you try to install Windows 7, you should first change the ACPI setting in BIOS. Default is Version 5. You just change it to Version 4 and the installation will go fine. Also make sure you change the OS optimized defaults to "Other OS". The default is "Windows 8".

I mentioned 3 weeks ago that you had to find Reset to other OS defaults in BIOS setup. I have this on my own G500.

Can you tell us what the ACPI settings are. I had not seen these referenced before and it wasn't necessary on my laptop. Was it on yours?

Hello.. i too had the same Problem. How to change the ACPI version as I could not find the option in the BIOS Setting. Please help. It's Urgent.
Thank You in Advance

Finally figured this out and thought I would share. Latest Lenovo G50 bios does not have an ACPI setting, however the BSD is caused by Windows 8 hibernating while trying to do the Windows 7 install. Here's what I did.

In windows 8 start the command prompt in administrative mode. Run "powercfg -h off" to turn of hibernation. Then change your Bios to boot with legacy support. I also had to set the usb to 2.0. I then did a usb install with no problems.

Good luck

Booted from usb with the 7 install drive (no optical drive on this laptop). The install was dying with a BSD for an ACPI error during the initial startup. The latest levono bios for my G50 does not have any ACPI settings. While searching for an answer, I found a mention for the ACPI error on the microsoft site that said it was caused by the windows 8 hibernation. I found how to turn off the hibernation in windows 8. Once I did that, I was able to use/complete the normal windows 7 install from a bootable usb. Then I got rid of all of the extra partitions and reformated the drive. Install completed with no problems.

The setting is known in most BIOS' as Fast Boot, enables a hybrid Hibernation in Windows 8 that makes it Start faster. Turn it off during install.

Here some info I found about that matter in a blog - click. It's written in bulgarian but it says the following:
1. OS Optimized Defaults - select "Win7 OS".
2. Load Default Settings - Hit Enter
3. Load Optimized Defaults - choose Yes! - this is the key point!
4. Then go to Configuration -> USB Mode - choose USB 2.0
5. Next go to Boot -> Boot Mode - switch to Legacy Support
6. Boot -> Boot Priority - switch to Legacy First
7. Exit -> Exit Saving Changes -> Yes

That's it.

The issue is due to the numerous partitions, not the BIOS.

  • Boot from a Windows 8.1 disc and erase all partitions (but don't install Windows).
  • Remove Windows 8.1 disc and turn off.
  • Start machine and boot from Windows 7 disc (may need boot order to be set in BIOS and compatibility set).
Lenovo B50-30 with latest BIOS (as of 6 Jan 2015) running Windows 7 x64 having ditched pre-installed Windows 8.1 x64.
