Hello dear SevenForums-Board

I am looking for a solution to let our Domain-Users recover their passwords on their own. Like on several webpages with the "Forgot your password"-Option.

So I imagine the scenario that the users forgets his password and so he requests a new one by answering to his secret question or by getting the password to his private mailaddress, which he already has addes to his useraccount within the ad.. or whatever^^

Is there such an option?

Thanks for your help and advices

It is not possible. There is no such functionality in Windows.

This functionality does not exist and neither is it possible. Active Directory could never tell anyone their password because it doesn't know. Passwords are verified by other methods. An Admin can assign a new password but cannot see the existing one.

If such functionality existed it would pose a serious security risk.

Sorry, but you guys got me wrong..

I know, that the password can't be sent in clear-text. That would be a horrible security risk^^..
But i was asking if there is a possibility to reset the password like on several Homepages. More like the "forgot your password" button where you can enter the answer to a security question and then get a NEW randomly created password via E-Mail, which you can use to log in once and set your own password again.

Active Directory does not have that functionality.
