i have an win 7-x64 operating system. lexmark has no driver for my printer, but they say the win vista driver should work- but i cant get it to work. i print once then the job get"stuck" in queue and cannot print again unless i reboot the computer. i found elsewhere on this forum a possible work around, but when i connect the usb cord the computer tries and fails to install the printer before i have a chance to install it the way the work around says. can anyone help?

You are not having luck with the Vista drive, but it should work. If no one comes by with a better solution, lets take a gamble. Try the XP driver, in compatability mode. Just download it to your documents folder. Right click, then click compatability and just hope.
Idea sound crazy, I know, but maybe it will work. Use it as a lost resort.
I wish you luck, and hope that one way or another, you get the printer working, again.

When you install the driver try with the printer off. You will be instructed when to turn it on. Hope this works.

I am having the same problem. I tried removing all printers from the control panel and trying again. sounds the same as joeychan...

This is what I tried and experienced:
1. Brand new PC which is Dell Inspiron 64bit with Windows 7 and only 4 days old.
2. With printer off and disconnected, started the Lexmark driver install program.
3. The driver installer instructs me to connect and turn on the printer (and the installer won't continue until it detects the printer).
4. Almost instantly when I connect and turn on the printer, a windows taskbar popup says the driver install failed and the device won't operate properly.
5. after a few seconds, the Lexmark installer continues and installs drivers, but the printer never works. I assume the instantly installed non-working Microsoft printer driver persists. I then remove the Microsoft drivers and try again with same result. I wish the lexmark drivers would install without requiring the printer to be on.

I don't think there's any firewall, but there might be one built into the McAfee preinstalled trial antivirus.... i will try to uninstall the firewall part and try again.

Was having the same problem getting the Lexmark x7350 on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, got it working like this:

Downloaded Vista 32 bit driver from Lexmark website.

Set file properties for all users to Unblock, Run in Compatibility for Vista SP2 and run as Admin. Paused Norton Internet Security Anti Virus. Installed driver, Plugged in when prompted. Windows barfs about can't install driver, but Lexmark installer continues and apparently finishes without a hitch. However trying to print stalls and viewing printer properties throws errors. The answer is simple, go to the ports tab under Printer Properties and tick the box that enables bi-directional communications. Problem solved. Got that info from the Lexmark website page for this printer. Kudos to Lexmark for publishing this info even though they don't officially support this printer under Win 7

Lexmark 7300 series install problem windows 7

I installed drivers from 2 different sources. Driver file cjg7300en downloaded march 2012.

It installs on windows 7 ultimate. Pauses to confirm usb cable plug in. Runs, comes to an end.

The printer icon in the "Devices & Printers" panel has a yellow exclamation mark indicating a problem.
If I check for the problem in the printer properties it says drivers not installed and comes up with a window to fix the problem but no go.
It is for a lexmark 7350 printer.

I removed the software. Tried again using the 2nd driver software I had. Both produce the same error.

I did read the other problems in the forum, but none with my exact error. Would love to solve the problem. Thanx to anyone that can help.

If you had done a search of this forum, you would have come across a solution that worked for a few people. Try this technique :

1. DO NOT EXECUTE the downloaded driver file for Vista (from the Lexmark site).
2. Instead, right-click and extract to a folder.
3. Go into that folder and right-click setup.exe - Properties - Compatibility - Vista.
4. At the bottom, run as Administrator.
5. Apply - OK. Now double-left-click setup.

There has also been success with old x2400 series printers working in W7 using this method with XP drivers.

Good luck!
